Say "No" to depression

We should have a choice whether we want to feel depressed or not. Unfortunately though, depression is a disorder that develops when individuals are dealing or have dealt with difficult circumstances.

Many times, it is very complex to live happily when you begin to feel gloomy for no apparent reason. Even when you have accomplished a certain task and were rewarded for it, nothing seems to make you happy. The truth is that depression can truly consume you. The experiences of the past and events of the present can play a big role in the way one is feeling today.

Perhaps you dealt with a traumatic experience that is keeping you from living peacefully. Or you might not have obtained the job of your dreams. For whatever reason, we realize that life is not easy. We wake up each day to circumstances that discourage us and make us want to give up, but we should not. Depression is a real enemy, but it should not be something we cannot overcome.

How can you say “no” to depression?

First, eliminate negative thoughts. Thinking about the bad things that happened to you is not going to fix the problem. Diminish the events that once hurt you and forget about them completely.

Second, Focus on what you want to happen and think about what you desire.  Keep in mind that you cannot turn back time and all you can do is begin a new journey.

Finally, Be thankful for the positive aspects that are occurring in your life as of right now. Keep yourself busy doing what you love and surround yourself with people who share your same interests. Life is too short to be unhappy and we should value every moment as if it was our last.
